EXPORT TO NEPAL • FROM GUJARAT, INDIA

Indian Maize, Feed Meals, Pulses and Spices for Nepal, Supplied Overland in Truckload Lots

Lab-tested lots from Gujarat, with the papers your land customs post asks for.

Elysium Agri Corporation is an agro-commodity exporter in Jamnagar, Gujarat. Wholesalers, feed mills and packers in Nepal can source maize, soybean meal, pulses, seed spices and peanuts from us. Your order travels by truck or rail across India to the land customs post you choose. India shipped about US$107 million of maize to Nepal in 2025.

Buying for Nepal is not like buying by sea. Orders are truckloads, not containers. Trade is settled in Indian rupees through banks. Clearance happens at a land border, where food and plant quarantine officers check the lot. So you receive land-border papers and a lab report for every lot.

What You Need on the Nepal Side

Food imports are regulated by DFTQC under Nepal's Food Act and Food Regulation. Plant products also pass plant quarantine at the border post. Confirm the current steps with your customs agent.

  • A registered firm with an EXIM code.
  • DFTQC approval or recommendation for the food product. The lot may be lab-tested at the border.
  • A plant-quarantine import permit for plant products. The Indian phytosanitary certificate refers to it.
  • Labels in Nepali or English with product name, ingredients, net weight, manufacturer and importer address, batch number, dates, storage instructions and country of origin.

Duty Under the India-Nepal Treaty of Trade

Under the Treaty of Trade, primary products from India enter Nepal free of basic customs duty and quantity limits. The treaty names agricultural produce, rice, pulses and flour. Nepal charges an agriculture reform fee, and VAT where it applies; ask your customs agent for current rates. Processed items such as peanut butter and roasted snacks pay the normal tariff. In September 2026 the two governments agreed to review the treaty, so check the terms for each order. Estimate your full cost with the landed cost calculator.

Overland from Gujarat to Your Border Post

Nepal is landlocked, and Indian goods reach it without a sea leg. Your lot is loaded in Gujarat and moves by truck or rail across India to land customs. No transit time is published here, because it depends on the mode and the border post. Routing and transit are confirmed with each quote.

  • Raxaul-Birgunj is the main crossing and has a rail-linked dry port.
  • Sunauli-Bhairahawa, Jogbani-Biratnagar and Rupaidiha-Nepalgunj serve other regions. You name the post nearest your warehouse.
  • Kolkata, Haldia and Visakhapatnam handle Nepal's third-country cargo. Indian exports do not need them.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I pay in Indian rupees?

Nepal-India trade is settled in Indian rupees through banks. A 2018 Nepal Rastra Bank rule requires a letter of credit above INR 50 million per consignment; smaller orders go by draft or transfer. Check the current limit with your bank.

Which border point will my cargo use?

You choose it. Raxaul-Birgunj is the main crossing, with a rail-linked dry port. Bhairahawa, Biratnagar and Nepalgunj are the other posts.

Do the packs need Nepali text?

Nepal accepts labels in Nepali or English, so Indian packs in English are generally acceptable. They must show the importer name and address, batch number, dates and country of origin. Send your label text with the order.

Will my lot pass the DFTQC test at the border?

No exporter can promise a test result. Tell us the limits you must meet, including pesticide residue. The lot is tested against them at an NABL-accredited lab before loading, and you receive the Certificate of Analysis.

Do Indian export restrictions affect my order?

They can. India has at times restricted exports of rice, wheat, sugar and onion, and Nepal has usually received quotas. Nepal also applies import curbs from time to time. The position for your product is confirmed with your quote.
