Indian Lentils, Moong, Urad and Peas for Wholesalers in Nepal, Cleaned and Lab-Tested

The grades your market already knows, in truckload lots with one lab report per lot.

Wholesalers in Kathmandu, Birgunj and Biratnagar buy the same pulse grades as the north-Indian trade. Elysium Agri Corporation offers red and green lentils, green moong, moong mogar, urad, pigeon peas and green peas from India, by truck to your land customs post. India shipped about US$29.8 million of dried pulses to Nepal in 2025.

Your customers judge a pulse by eye first: colour, size and how clean it is. Then the border post tests it. So each lot is cleaned to the grade you name, tested at an NABL-accredited lab and sent with its Certificate of Analysis and phytosanitary certificate.

What Pulses Need at the Nepal Border

Pulses are both a food and a plant product, so two authorities look at your lot: DFTQC and plant quarantine.

  • A plant-quarantine import permit in your name, matched to the Indian phytosanitary certificate.
  • DFTQC approval for the product. The lot may be sampled at the border for quality and pesticide residue.
  • A certificate of origin showing the goods are Indian.
  • For consumer packs, a label in Nepali or English with importer name and address, batch number, dates and country of origin.

Packing and Overland Shipping

  • By truck across India to Birgunj, Bhairahawa, Biratnagar or Nepalgunj. You name the post.
  • Transit is confirmed with each quote.
  • Settled in Indian rupees through your bank.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do Indian pulses pay customs duty in Nepal?

The India-Nepal Treaty of Trade names pulses as exempt from basic customs duty. Nepal charges an agriculture reform fee instead, and VAT where it applies. The rates were not verified on an official source, so confirm them with your customs agent.

When should I order for Dashain and Tihar?

Demand in Nepal usually rises before Dashain and Tihar, between September and November. Send your quote request well ahead. The loading date and expected transit are confirmed in writing with the quote.

Can you match the grade I buy now?

Send a sample or the specification of your current lot: variety, size, colour and broken limit. The offer is matched to it.

Do you also supply chickpeas?

Yes. Kabuli, desi and roasted chickpeas, called chana in Nepal, are on the chickpeas page.
