Pulses in Turkey are a timing trade. Duty on chickpeas and lentils can change by decree during the year, so buying opens and closes quickly. Send your specification early, so that grade, documents and bag marking are agreed before the rate suits you.

What Pulses Need to Enter Turkey
Dried pulses are plant-origin food, checked at the border by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (MinAF).
- You pre-notify each product in MinAF's Food Safety Information System (FSIS) before arrival: product name, category, origin and ingredients. Our specification sheet uses the same wording.
- A permanent Turkish label must be on the package before official controls begin. A sticker is accepted. For bulk bags, ask your broker whether the particulars may travel on the documents.
- A phytosanitary certificate issued in India travels with each shipment.
- No trade agreement applies, so you pay standard (MFN) rates, which can change by decree. Chickpeas and lentils were zero-rated until 31 December 2022, for example. Ask your broker for the live rate, then use the landed cost calculator.
Packing and Shipping to Mersin
- Loading at Mundra, Kandla or Pipavav. Discharge at Mersin, Istanbul Ambarli or another Turkish port you name.
- Published schedules show about 12 days from Mundra to Mersin via Suez, longer around the Cape. Routing and transit are confirmed with each quote.
