Bangladesh Import Requirements for Grain
Grain enters as a plant product under the Plant Quarantine Wing. Two points are specific to grain: the radiation certificate applies, and buyers often ask for a non-GMO declaration.
- A plant-quarantine import permit for each consignment, valid for four months, quoted on the phytosanitary certificate.
- A fumigation certificate and a free-of-soil statement.
- A radiation certificate for Cs-137, limit 50 Bq/kg.
- A non-GMO declaration where asked. GMO grain needs Ministry of Environment approval.
- USDA Dhaka reports no import tariff on corn and that bulk wheat is exempt. Other taxes can still apply, so check your HS line and use the landed cost calculator.
Packing and Shipping
- Retail packs need a Bangla label or sub-label.
- By sea to Chattogram or Mongla with transshipment, or by rail and truck through land ports such as Hili and Sonamasjid. We check which land port accepts your grain, and routing and transit are confirmed with each quote.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can India supply maize to Bangladesh in every season?
Supply depends on the Indian crop and on domestic demand, so it changes through the year. The crop calendar shows harvest timing. Send your monthly tonnage and we will tell you which shipment periods can be covered.
Can you ship wheat to Bangladesh?
India introduced a wheat export ban in May 2022, and measures of this kind are switched on and off. Whether wheat or wheat flour can ship is confirmed at the time of your quote. If it cannot, we will tell you at once.
What moisture level do you offer for feed maize?
The limit follows your specification. State your maximum moisture, broken grain and foreign matter. The lot is tested at an NABL-accredited lab and the Certificate of Analysis reports the result.
We also need soybean meal. Can it be quoted together?
Yes. See feed ingredients for Bangladesh for the meals available. Each product is tested and documented as a separate lot, with its own Certificate of Analysis.
