Whole Cumin, Turmeric and Seed Spices for Germany's Spice Mills
Whole seed and finger from Gujarat, residue-tested before loading, ready for your own cleaning and grinding.
Germany is Europe's main spice processing market, and India supplies most of its cumin. Elysium Agri Corporation exports whole cumin, coriander, fennel, fenugreek and turmeric from Gujarat to German importers and spice mills. Every lot is tested at an NABL-accredited lab before it leaves Mundra, Kandla or Pipavav.
India shipped about 4,900 tonnes of turmeric and about 2,300 tonnes of cumin to Germany in the 2025-26 financial year. Most of it travels whole, because German mills prefer to clean, steam-treat and grind it themselves. What you need from the origin is low residues and complete documents.

EU Border Rules for Indian Spices
Indian cumin, coriander, fennel, turmeric and ginger are under "increased official controls" for pesticide residues under Regulation (EU) 2019/1793. The lists are amended regularly, and the cumin entry changed again in June 2026.
- Your importer or agent pre-notifies each listed consignment with a CHED-D in TRACES NT, and the goods enter through a designated Border Control Post.
- Where the regulation requires it, the lot travels with the official certificate from the Indian competent authority and the laboratory report for pesticide residues.
- Salmonella must be absent in spices.
- German buyers often set residue limits below the legal maximum.
Packing, Ports and Transit
- German buyers typically take 25 kg polypropylene or multi-wall paper bags, or big bags of 900 to 1,000 kg.
- Loading at Mundra, Kandla or Pipavav for Hamburg, Bremerhaven or Wilhelmshaven.
- Mundra to Hamburg typically takes about 21 to 30 days by sea through Suez, and longer around the Cape of Good Hope. Your quote states the routing.
- Plan bag counts with the container load calculator.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you supply ground spices as well as whole seed?
Turmeric powder and ginger powder are in our range. Most German mills buy seed spices whole and grind them themselves.
Which documents come with a cumin or turmeric lot?
The commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading, certificate of origin, phytosanitary certificate and Certificate of Analysis. Where Regulation (EU) 2019/1793 requires it, the official certificate and laboratory report are added. Your agent uses these for the CHED-D.
Will the India-EU free trade agreement lower the duty on spices?
Negotiations were concluded in January 2026, but when this page was last reviewed the agreement was not yet in force. The standard EU tariff applies, with GSP where your tariff line is covered. Check your code in TARIC, then use the landed cost calculator.
Can our own inspector or laboratory sample the lot in India?
Yes. Inspection by SGS, Bureau Veritas or Intertek is welcome before loading. See our quality page.
