Rapeseed Meal (Mustard DOC)
Indian rapeseed meal, also called mustard DOC or rapeseed extraction, is the protein meal left after oil is extracted from rapeseed-mustard seed. Elysium Agri exports it at SEA's 38/2.5 grade (36–38% protein, sand / silica ≤ 2.5%) for dairy, cattle and aqua feed, shipped from Kandla, close to our Jamnagar base.
Rapeseed meal is now India's largest oilmeal export. India shipped 6.60 lakh tonnes in April–June 2026, and China alone took 3.09 lakh tonnes, alongside Bangladesh, Vietnam, South Korea and Thailand.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What is rapeseed meal?
Rapeseed meal is the protein meal left after oil is extracted from rapeseed-mustard seed. In India it is also called mustard DOC or rapeseed extraction.
What is the protein content of Indian rapeseed meal?
Indian rapeseed meal is traded at 36–38% protein; SEA's export grade 38/2.5 means 38% protein and at most 2.5% sand / silica. Expeller cake is about 40%.
Is Indian rapeseed meal the same as canola meal?
No. Canola is bred for low glucosinolates (< 30 µmol/g) and low erucic acid. Indian mustard meal is higher in both, so it is used mainly in cattle and aqua feed.
What is the HS code for rapeseed meal?
Indian rapeseed-mustard meal is exported under ITC-HS 2306 49 00. The low-erucic code 2306 41 00 does not apply to conventional Indian mustard.
Which countries buy Indian rapeseed meal?
China became the largest buyer in 2025-26, followed by Bangladesh, Vietnam, South Korea and Thailand.
Can Indian rapeseed meal be exported to China?
Yes, but only from Indian plants approved by EIC and registered with China's GACC. China reopened to Indian rapeseed meal in 2018.
How much rapeseed meal fits in a container?
About 20–22 MT in a 20 ft container and about 26 MT in a 40 ft, in 50 kg bags or bulk with a liner.
Who exports rapeseed meal from India?
Elysium Agri Corporation, based in Jamnagar, Gujarat, exports rapeseed meal at SEA grade 38/2.5 from Kandla, with lot-wise testing.
