Indian Peanuts and Sesame for Ukraine, with Routing Agreed Order by Order
Tested lots in 25 kg bags for roasters, bakeries and wholesalers, with port and route confirmed in every quote.
Elysium Agri Corporation exports peanuts, sesame seeds, dehydrated vegetables, turmeric and seed spices from Jamnagar, Gujarat, to importer-wholesalers, snack roasters and bakery ingredient distributors in Ukraine. India shipped about US$3 million of raw groundnuts to Ukraine in 2025. Cargo is loaded at Mundra, Kandla or Pipavav.
The demand is there; the logistics are the part that changes. Sea access has been intermittent, and containers often move through Constanta or through Polish and Baltic ports with a rail or truck leg. We therefore fix the port, route and delivery point with you at quotation stage, and we do not promise a transit time in advance.

View detailsUkrainian Import Rules for Food Products
The State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection carries out food safety and phytosanitary controls at the border, and the State Customs Service clears the goods. You file the customs declaration through a broker and present the consignment for control. Ukraine is not an EU member, so EU border regulations do not apply, but it is aligning its food law with the EU.
- Labels must be in Ukrainian under the Law on Consumer Information on Foodstuffs, No. 2639-VIII.
- The label shows product name, ingredients, allergens, net quantity, date and shelf life, storage conditions, the importer's name, address and telephone, country of origin and a nutrition declaration.
- GMO and GMO-free products are labelled accordingly. This matters for maize and soy products.
- Import licences apply only to a short list of licensed goods. Ask your broker to confirm that your product is outside it.
Duty, VAT and Payment Rules
We found no free trade agreement between India and Ukraine, so plan for the general Ukrainian customs tariff plus VAT, without preference. Your broker confirms the rate on the State Customs Service tariff. The US Commercial Service reports that food products qualify for deferred customs payments under Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 236; ask your broker whether this applies to you. The National Bank of Ukraine set a 180-day settlement deadline for import transactions in 2022. Check the current rule with your bank, because it limits how long an advance payment can stay open before the goods arrive. Then estimate your cost with our Landed Cost Calculator.
Shipping to Ukraine: Port and Route Confirmed with Each Quote
The Greater Odesa ports are Odesa, Chornomorsk and Pivdennyi. Container lines restarted feeder calls there in mid-2024, but calls have been interrupted at times, and in mid-2026 carriers were reported to be routing containers through Constanta. For this reason we do not publish a transit time for Ukraine. Each quote states which port is being served, the route and the expected arrival.
- Alternatives in use are Constanta with rail or road, Danube ports such as Izmail, and Gdansk, Gdynia or Klaipeda with land transport.
- A land leg adds time and cost, and insurance surcharges may apply. These are set out in the quote.
- Tell us your delivery point and your forwarder's preferred corridor.
- See Packaging.
Documents for Ukrainian Customs and Border Control
| Document | Why this market needs it |
|---|---|
| Certificate of origin | Mandatory where Ukrainian law requires it or where quantitative restrictions apply. |
| Health certificate | Shows compliance with sanitary and epidemiological requirements at border control. |
| Invoice, packing list and bill of lading | Your broker files the customs declaration from these, so they must match the cargo exactly. |
| GMO status statement | For maize and soy products, because Ukrainian labels state GMO or GMO-free status. |
| Certificate of Analysis with aflatoxin and pesticide residue results | A sensible standard for each lot, as Ukraine aligns its food law with the EU. |
Why Buyers in Ukraine Order from Elysium
- An advance payment needs trust. Check our IEC and GSTIN on Indian government portals before you pay. See Verify Elysium.
- Aflatoxin is the main concern with peanuts. Every lot is tested at an NABL-accredited laboratory and ships with a Certificate of Analysis. See Lab Testing.
- Routes can change after an order. See Contact.
- A longer journey makes pre-shipment proof more useful. SGS, Bureau Veritas or Intertek can inspect the cargo before loading. See Quality.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which port will my container arrive at?
It depends on which ports carriers are serving when you order. The options are the Greater Odesa ports, Constanta with rail or road, Danube ports such as Izmail, or Gdansk, Gdynia and Klaipeda with land transport. The quote names the port and route for your shipment.
How long does shipping from India to Ukraine take?
We do not quote a standard transit time, because the route depends on the ports in service when you place the order.
What must the Ukrainian label show?
The label must be in Ukrainian. It shows product name, ingredients, allergens, net quantity, best-before or production date with shelf life, storage conditions, importer name, address and telephone, country of origin, a complaint contact and a nutrition declaration. GMO or GMO-free status is also stated.
How does the 180-day settlement rule affect an advance payment?
The National Bank of Ukraine set a 180-day settlement deadline for import transactions in 2022. Goods should arrive within that period after you pay in advance. Ask your bank for the current rule, and tell us your deadline so that we can plan the shipment date around it.
Do EU border rules such as the CHED-D apply to Ukraine?
No. Ukraine is not an EU member, so Regulation (EU) 2019/1793 does not apply to your import. Ukraine is aligning its food law with the EU, however, so we recommend lot-wise aflatoxin and pesticide residue reports as your standard. These reports are supplied with every lot.
