What Sesame Needs to Enter Egypt
Sesame is a plant product, so it comes under NFSA food control and CAPQ plant quarantine. CAPQ can inspect before shipment.
- An NFSA food import licence and an import permit, held by you.
- An ACID number raised on Nafeza before loading and printed on the invoice and bill of lading.
- A phytosanitary certificate that refers to your import permit (Decree 562/2019), and a health certificate.
- Arabic marking on bulk bags: product, origin, producer, dates, net weight and importer. One production date and one expiry date only.
- At least three months of shelf life remaining on arrival, where total shelf life is six months or more.
- Duty at the normal MFN rate, as India has no tariff preference in Egypt. Ask your broker for the current rate under HS 1207.40.
